Meet Bill Reichle
Long-term vision. Small-town values.
Bill Reichle ("Rike-lee") is running for City Council in Piedmont to bring long-term vision and management skills to sustain our small-town quality of life. Bill is a fourth generation Californian who moved to Piedmont with his wife — Piedmont native Julie Tanner Reichle — and their daughters in 2000. He was immediately impressed with the Piedmont community for its civic pride, beautiful parks and facilities, and volunteer spirit.
Bill is a graduate of UC Berkeley and earned his MBA at CSU East Bay while working full-time. He spent the first-half of his career in marketing in San Francisco, working as a partner in a marketing communications agency serving corporate clients.
As Assistant Vice Chancellor at UC Berkeley, Bill developed strategic plans, budgets, policies, and communications for campus departments that mirror those of Piedmont’s city government, including: police, emergency management, facilities, human resources, disability access, sustainability, and capital projects.
Bill has had the honor of serving with friends and neighbors on community committees and boards including the Piedmont Education Foundation, where he served as Chair of its audit committee. He has also served on the boards of Camp Augusta, PHS Boosters, and the Piedmont Youth Soccer League. He also enjoys helping Dress Best for Less (DBFL) set-up for their "Bag Sale" on the last Saturday of each month. Outside of Piedmont, Bill chaired the capital campaign for the Lair of the Golden Bear, raising $2.4 million in gifts to help rebuild the popular Cal alumni summer camp.
In his spare time, Bill enjoys swimming, gardening, working on his 99-year old home, and backpacking in the high Sierra.
Bill believes the best solutions emerge when the Piedmont community engages in open and transparent conversation and he looks forward to the opportunity to serve you.

Without reliable public safety, nothing else matters. Supporting police, fire, public works, and emergency management will always be a top priority.
Without fiscal discipline, nothing else is possible. Piedmont's ability to meet our current needs while plannng for the future depends on honest and transparent budget analysis and prioritization.
When public safety and fiscal discipline are well-managed, we can continue to support the wonderful programs, parks, and facilities that bring family and friends together.
Piedmont's Climate Action Plan 2.0 is comprehensive and Piedmonters have demonstrated they are willing to take action to reduce carbon emissions. Continued focus will be needed to meet ambitious greenhouse gas targets.
League of Women Voters candidate forum
Bill joined all candidates for City Council at the League of Women Voters candidate forum on September 29, 2026 in City Hall. The event had a live audience in the city council chambers and KCOM was livestreaming the event as well. Below please find the video of the evening.
Founded in 2018, the Piedmont Exedra is a hyperlocal, independent news site created by a group of Piedmont residents. The Piedmont Exedra posed twenty questions to all candidates for City Council on a variety of topics facing Piedmont and was published on October 13. You can find answers that Bill submitted here.
Founded in 1998, the Piedmont Post provides articles and photos that inform and entertain Piedmont residents. During the Fall, 2026 election, the Piedmont Post poses one question to each candidate every week from Labor Day until the election. Below please find the Post's questions and Bill's responses.
The Piedmont Highlander is the student-run newspaper and online news site of Piedmont High School. It has been in continuous operation since 1921. This October, the Highlander asked candidates for City Council to submit a short video describing how long they've lived in Piedmont, what they are hoping to change, how this will impact students and teachers, and why high school seniors, teachers, staff, and residents should vote for them. Bill shot the video with his dog Olive answering the Highlander's questions, and then, for fun, a second video in conversation with Parker Collins, Piedmont High School Class of 2027, about how in-touch he is with today's young voters.
